Dots ("the app", "we", "us") is a personal task and journaling app. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. Our approach is simple: your entries stay yours. Dots has no user accounts, no advertising, and we do not sell your data.
Everything you create in Dots — tasks, priorities, events, notes, habits, collections, subtasks, and reminders — is stored locally on your device in an on-device database. By default, this data never leaves your phone.
Dots does not ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and does not require you to create an account.
If you enable iCloud sync (a premium feature), your Dots data is synced through your own private Apple iCloud container so it can move between your devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not operate a server that stores your entries, and we cannot read your synced content. You can turn sync off at any time in Settings.
Dots offers an optional premium subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple, and subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider. To manage your subscription, RevenueCat processes a randomly generated, anonymous identifier and your App Store purchase receipt. It does not receive your name or the contents of your entries. To keep the app stable, Dots uses Sentry to collect diagnostic information when the app encounters an error or crash. This may include device model, operating system version, app version, and technical details about the error. This information is used solely to diagnose and fix problems. It does not include the contents of your entries. See Sentry's Privacy Policy.
Dots can schedule reminders for your tasks and habits. These are local notifications generated on your device. Dots does not operate a push-notification server and does not track whether you open a reminder.
If you enable biometric or passcode app lock, that authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system. Dots never sees or stores your biometric data or passcode.
